We strongly recommend that you use your POP email account by setting up your favorite email program (such as Microsoft Outlook, or Eudora..) in order to read your mail. (Make sure you remove the mail from the server to avoid unnecessary storage charges.) You should set the POP (incoming) server and your SMTP server to be whatever yourdomain.com is (or .org, .net, etc.). Your username and password are the same as the ones you use to access your account using FTP and Telnet. You can also access your POP email online with your browser by using the Control Panel. All functions pertaining to email are configurable by using the Control Panel, such as email forwarding, creating new POP accounts, auto-responders, listservers, etc..Note: You can also access your POP email by Telneting to your server and then giving the command "mail" (we also support "elm" and "pine"). Here is a detailed tutorial explaining how to setup Microsoft Outlook Express.
Step1:
Click on the Mail tab.
Click on the Add Button, click on Mail...
A new window should pop up like the one below. Type in the name you want to be displayed for your e-mail address. Click on the Next > button.
Type in your e-mail address, normally, yourusername@domain.com, but anything@domain.com will work. Click on the Next > button.
Select POP3 in the drop down menu if not currently selected. Type whatever yourdomain.com is in the Incoming mail text box as well as for the SMTP address in the Outgoing mail text box. Click on the Next > button.
Type your username in the username POP account name text box. Type your password in the Password text box. Click on the Next > button.
Make a friendly name for this mail account. Such as domain.com's Emails... etc. Click on the Next > button.
Choose your Internet connection type, you should be able to get away by choosing Connect using my local area network, if you don't know what to choose. Click on the Next > button.
Click on the Finish button. You are now ready to download and send mail.
Finally, close the Internet Accounts window.
Once you have the account set up, you will want to make sure that it is working properly. To do this, send a test message to yourself or a friend. Give the message a few minutes and then verify that your email has arrived.
