SSL - The Secure Server
If you wish to use the secure.atlas-host.com secure server: First, use the Control Panel to setup your domain:
Note the "S" in "https://" which is required for the secure connection. Please only use the https protocol for pages which truly need it, and use http for all others. Secure transactions will be considerably slower than normal transfers due to the encryption programs that must be run. Finally, if you would like to be able to use a URL like https://secure.yourdomain.com for secure transactions, see the section below.
By having your own secure server, your secure URL would be something like: https://secure.yourdomain.com If you plan on handling online payments, signup, or other services that will require a secure server, It is a good idea to register a secure server digital certificate. With this certificate, you are able to handle secure transactions through your own domain, rather than the atlas-host domain. There are many companies that will register your digital certificate. However, we recommend you use our partner company, www.thawte.com to process your request. If you use thawte's registration services and enter ATLAS in the Hosting Partner field, you will receive a $25 discount. Step 1: To begin the process of registering your secure server, you need to send us a CSR Request to csr@atlas-host.com with "CSR Request" as the subject, along with the following information:
We will reply to your email with a CSR script. After you have received this reply, go to Thawte's Web Server Certificate Request at https://www.thawte.com/cgi/server/step1.exe?product_type=ssl1. In the text box on that page, copy the CSR script you received from us and paste it in. It will help to read the instructions provided on their page as well. In the Web Server Software field, select 'Apache-ModSSL'. Select your preferred method of payment. In the Hosting Partner Code, enter 'ATLAS' to receive a $25 discount on the spot. You can leave the PKI field blank and go ahead and let them know how you heard about them. Click 'Next' to submit the form. Step 3: Once you have submitted the form and your Secure Server Digital Certificate has been approved and successfully registered, send another email to csr@atlas-host.com with "CSR Request" as the subject and let us know that your certificate has been successfully registered. We will complete your request and your secure server will be set up on the domain you requested in your original request.
