Making the switch to ATLAS-HOST.com is not only smart, but easy!
First..
You must establish your account at ATLAS-HOST.com by selecting the BASIC or PREMIUM Web Hosting Package. When asked for the domain name, enter your domain name and select the option "Transfer existing domain".
Once you have completed the signup process and have received email notification from us that your account has been setup, you can then transfer your website contents from your old web host to our server - your new home. There is an FTP Transfer Utility available in your Control Panel (which you access from the MyAccount section) which will allow you to quickly and easily transfer your existing website in its entirety.
Second..
You must change the DNS Information associated with your current domain name. Currently, your domain name has DNS Information that makes your domain name "point" to your current web hosting company. What you must do is change this DNS Information to "point" to ATLAS-HOST.com.
For example, you may find that your Domain Name has something like the following for the primary and secondary DNS Entries:
NS1.OLDHOST.COM 255.XXX.XX.XXX
NS2.OLDHOST.COM 255.XXX.XX.XXX
You must change this to:
NS1.ATLAS-HOST.COM 209.51.146.91
NS2.ATLAS-HOST.COM 209.51.146.90
What you must do is contact the company that you registered your domain name through (the Registrar) and provide them with this new DNS Information. Usually, you can perform this yourself online.
One thing you must remember, DNS changes take anywhere from 24 to 48 hours (or longer) to take effect. So, until these changes take effect you (and everyone else who visits your domain name) will continue to go to your old web host when they enter your domain name in the address bar of their web browser.
Done..
Finally, once you see that your web browser is indeed taking you to your new ATLAS-HOST.com account (the DNS information has updated), you can then close your account with your old web host provider.
